      Hey Reno,
You seem to know a lot about Utah camping. I have lived here on and off for years and camped all over. The swell, Capital Reef, Moab, Escalante.
But this year 2 new things for me. I have small camper I have to tow and I am going to be a female camping alone. What are some good areas that are not too remote and free within 3-4 hours of SLC? I want to head south where its warm and sunny. I will be working so I need cell service. Tall order I know, but never hurts to ask. Thanks bunches!

Howdy gypsy, welcome to the campfire! Have been thinking about your questions, probably post something to help but I'll do that in the "Where To Go" Section and probably in a day or so. This thread is just basically the place to say hi and tell everyone a wee bit about oneself! So welcome to the forum and check the Rocky Mountain Section of the Where To Go in a couple of days!

Hello, I'm Shelia and I'm divorced, two grown daughters, five grandchildren and soon to be one great-grandchild. Native Texan living in Missouri. When the kids were young, we tent camped a lot. Went a few times after the kids were grown but got tired of sleeping on the ground - woke up nose to nose with a mother skunk one night.

Planning to buy a cargo van and outfit it as a camper for my retirement travel. Not sure in my older years that I could hook / unhook/ level an RV or do all the cranking / pulling required with a pop up. That's why I'm thinking probably a van would work.

I'm a low maintenance camper - would just like a comfortable bed, a door that locks, a potty and a place to cook simple meals.

Looking forward to gaining a lot of good information and, hopefully, some friends here.

Hi, Looks like I rudely missed the introduction tradition, my apologies.
My family moved to France when I was 5 and our summer vacations were usually spent camping throughout Europe. Moved back to Mississippi when I was 18 and now almost 40 years later the camping bug is back. The only difference is Mississippi heat, humidity, and the mosquitoes. I enjoy reading of others' ideas, gear, and methods and hope to contribute some of my own. As a matter of fact, I first saw a Kodiak cabin wall tent as posted by renodesertfox, and now proudly have one of my own. We had a canvas tent when I was growing up and the Kodiak doesn't disappoint.
Go Camping! it's one of the best ways to experience God's Glory!

Welcome to the forum everyone. HumidMS, I can tell you where there is no skeeters and humidity, but the heat is still there. I used to live in central Texas and the skeeters there could carry away small children...lol. out here, we see maybe 2-3 a year. But then this is a desert. Took me a few years out here before I wasn,t cold at 80 degrees anymore.

Anyway, hope ya'll enjoy your stay here, lots of great folks and a wealth of knowledge. Join in and have a great time.

Hello all, new to the forum as well, but not new to camping. Growing up I did quite a bit of camping with my family, mostly in Mississippi (where I'm from) and in Texas. It has been quite a number of years, though, since my last camp and now I am getting back into it with my own family. This past weekend was our first outing and it went great. I used a lot of my past experience as well as relying on a lot of web searching for ideas of what to bring along. I ended up making up a nice spreadsheet with a page for gear and a page for menu planning. I'll share once I'm sure I am able to post (I had posted a reply in the solar lights thread, but it has yet to be cleared by the mods).

Anyway, it's good to be here & I've enjoyed the forum so far. It's given me a lot of great ideas already to make my next trip that much more enjoyable. I hope that I am able to contribute as much as some of you in the future.

Mom used to live in Temple when I was a kid. Two of our favorite places to camp in Texas were Big Bend & Enchanted Rock. I'm hoping I get to take my kids there sometime soon.

Welcome rajncajn and Marwil. Rajn, I haven't been to either in a long time. I am currently planning my next trip for Big Bend, hoping to go in the next month or so before the real heat sets in.

Hello. My name is Ken, and my wife, 2 sons, and I live in North Mississippi. We have just recently become interested in camping again. I used to camp a great deal when I was a kid, but after marriage and 2 kids a lot of the adventure stopped. Now, my sons are old enough to enjoy and appreciate camping, so we are going more. Add to that the fact that I can't afford to go places and stay in a hotel room and eat out every meal, but we can go anywhere where we can stay in a tent and cook at the campsite. This allows us to see parts of the country that we may have never seen otherwise. Our goal right now is to try to take one weekend trip per month. We just got back from Monroe, LA, and April 12th we are planning a trip to Gulf Shores, AL. So far, we are loving it.

Hey yall! My name is Chris and I have camped in one form or another for almost 34 years, even when I was in the Army we went "camping" a few times then I went on a 1 year "camping" spree all over the country of Iraq. As stated earlier I was in the Army for 3 years had and MOS of Cargo Specialist and was stationed at Ft. Story in north VA Beach. I spent 1 year in Iraq 04-05 and was involved in the Fallujah Raid, and was in a convoy protection platoon (I was the guy hanging out of the top of the Humvee with a big gun). I got out in 06 and started working for GE.

I just bought my first Travel Trailer last week. Its a 2000 Rockwood Ultra-Lite 2501. I got a deal that I could not pass up. I do have to do a little work to it but wont take me long since I have done it before when I worked for a camper dealership. Im Excited to be here and learn a few things and hopefully help a few people out along the way.. Thanks for letting me join and Happy Camping!!
