This past summer I undertook a journey that would ultimately take me to Watson Lake and the Artic Circle in the Yukon. Because of a shortage of funds, only free campgrounds would do. My first goal was Farewell Bend State Park in Oregon for the eclipse for which I had reservations. My journey started in Los Angeles, from which I took highway 395 north through the towering Sierra Nevada Mountains. It was good to leave the hustle and bustle of the big city for the quiet and solitude of nature. A must stop on highway 395 is Schat's Bakkery in Bishop, California. Best sourdough bread anywhere!

Re: Journey to Watson Lake and Artic Circle
After years of keeping my eyes open for bighorn sheep, I finally saw some in Kootenay National Park. I was going to take a photo of a male that was in the middle of the road, but he was eyeing me and snorting. I thought it best to leave him alone, but I did get a photo of the female with him. Marble Canyon is the highlight of Kootenay National Park. Wow!

Re: Journey to Watson Lake and Artic Circle
From highway 93 at the town of Jasper in Alberta I headed west on highway 16, which took me to Prince George in British Columbia. I stayed at Cobb Lake Campground west of Prince George to wait for bad weather to pass before continuing north on highway 97. Nearly all of highway 97 was gorgeous.
