Yes, people with larger boats sometimes make their own built in refrigerator/freezers, but the cost is substantially higher than just getting an ARB or dometic or whatever portable fridge...which is why I bought instead of built/assembled.

Making your own thermoelectric unit would be very possible but when you are done it still will only be good to reduce the internal temperature (slowly with excessive, IMO, electric use) to only 36 degrees below ambient (if every thing is perfect). In the real world; better count on something closer to 20 degrees below ambient)... to my mind (72 degrees - 20=) 52 degrees isn't worth much effort or cost and even if everything is perfect (90 degrees - 36=) 54 degrees is too warm for any thing "cool" that I want to drink or to keep hamburger long (gave up drinking beer European style (warm) some decades ago).

It could be a fun experiment if you want to play with Peltiers, though...

    Enjoy!

(Edit); If anyone in the Colorado springs area wants this thermoelectric cooler in the next two weeks or so shoot me a private message and we can arrange a meet/you can have it... otherwise its going to good will.

    Enjoy!

The Engel is the one that delivers vs. the Coleman clones, but the price knocks your socks off:

        Re: electric cooler

Yep! a fridge/freezer is way different than a thermoelectric "cooler".
The aforementioned Coleman and clones (I suspect that the Coleman is made in the same factory and is the rebadged unit) are thermoelectric "coolers" (no compressor or refrigerant).
Engel, Dometic, ARB, Edgestar and other fridge/freezers that have a compressor and refrigerant (like your home fridge/freezer, but are 12 volt compatible) are the units to look for (will actually keep ice cream frozen & not prewarm your beer).

The best prices are on discounted/used; open box, scratch and dent or customer returns, but there is a certain amount of risk/lack of choice.

When the price difference between a "high performance" cooler (Yetti etc.) and a 12Vdc fridge/ freezer is considered; the spendiness/wallet impact decreases somewhat., although for stationary stays (where the vehicle engine does not recharge the battery) you still need a way to supply 12 volts/recharge a moderately large 12 volt battery/bank for the fridge.

        Enjoy!

This is a powerful heat-exchanger to achieve thermodynamic equilibrium, but at the expense of shorter shelf-life and cooling capacity as a solid. This is your grandfather's icebox. :penguin:

Those are both notorious sites run by party hacks to keep the Politically Elite in the trough.
Since you're ripe-picking for scams, I do have a nice money-making opportunity for you back home in New Jersey, it's a concrete drawbridge that would provide income for life through tolls. It's in Burlington County, let me know and I'll fill you in on the details.

If anyone can get rich on my trash; more power to them...

If there were a better organization as close or as accessible, I might use it ...

There isn't, so its still free if anyone local, or passing through, wants this thermoelectric "cooler".

(also have a dead 1/2 inch craftsman 24 volt rechargeable drill and some junk/broken/chinese tools that are going...unless I get a PM or someone, local or passing through, says on this thread that they want them).

                Enjoy!

I'm currently emptying my apartment out and have learned that first come, first served, for pick up works best for me. The only local charity I refuse to gi e directly to are The United Way and that one with the cute kids "playing" instruments. Both charities have low ratings.

You know I lova ya Mac but I have to disagree with you on this. The CEO of Goodwill is paid just over $400k a year which seems to be a little higher than other large charities but when you consider that they are working with around $488 Billion compaired to just over 1 billion for other large charities I think the extra $100k is justified. Especially when factoring in that 89% of expenses goes to programs.

I looked up lots of sites but this one has a very easy to read chart where you can easily compare organizations.

At 3/(57 X 365.25) X 100 = 0.014%, far below the coefficient of variation of 3%, I'd say you're well within the margins of statistical "perfection". That said, you have made at least two more mistakes than my wife has...Better luck next time eh buddy?
