    • Hello my name is Steve. I love camping and go as often as I can. Me and my wife and 2 kids. Our oldest son is in the scouts so we get to camp at least once a month. And usually me and the family go a few times when the weather is right. Signed up here just to maybe learn some new camping tricks or even places to camp.

        • Need help finding a good cabin/wall tent for a tall guy!

Howdy everyone from Texas. Any suggestions on a good cabin tent with 7' height and a covered or screened porch? My family has gotten into tent camping, thanks to Cub Scouts. My wife and I have 3 kids plus a large dog, who also goes camping with us.

A friend has a North Pole cabin/wall tent that sleeps 6-8 and has a covered porch. What I love about his tent is that at 6'4", I can stand inside, and not just in the center! My friend's tent is 7' high throughout the entire interior and so is the porch. The problem is, this model is several years old and I can't find it anywhere. The closest I came is http://www.amazon.com/Northpole-Fami.../dp/B001CLA0F6, but as you can see it is out of stock.

It doesn't have to be a 4 season tent. I live in Houston, TX and the winters aren't that bad. I really want to find a comparable tent like my friends' but I don't want to spend more than $300. Thanks for your input!

              • Welcome to all you new members. I'm very excited to see the population of our beloved camping forum growing so rapidly! You are all sure to have a good time and find lots of great information and ideas for your next outing.

On a more disappointing note, I have just recently been let go from my System Specialist position due to corporate downsizing and I am currently unemployed. I will not be online as frequently as my new apartment does not have internet service yet, and I was online at work the majority of the time. I will stop by as much as possible to see how all of you are doing and I will miss the constant communication between you regulars here (if you think I'm talking about you I am.) Wish me luck in the the hunt for my next job, and God Bless!

                    • Man am I glad to find a forum like this.

My name is Randy and I live in the suburbs of Chicago. I have also lived in Montana for a few years. I have been tent camping and backpacking for almost 20 years. I have backpacked in various places in Idaho/Montana but now I mostly car camp. I am married with 2 small kids, a 3yo boy and a 6yo girl. We all love to camp. I usually get out 5 or 6 times each summer. I will go by myself or bring whatever family and friends are willing to come along.

                              • While I've been a member for a few weeks, I'm just now coming across this thread. Thanks to buying and renovating a house a few years back, my outdoor activities have been lacking recently. But with a new tent and a girlfriend that's excited to tag along, the plan is to get in as much camping and hiking as I can this year. Look forward to learning and sharing with all of you.
