Just south of Stanley, ID, situated in the middle of beautiful Sawtooth Forest, Alturas Lake is the most gorgeous area of Idaho I've ever been. Then again, I have not been further north than McCall. Ha.
I have been to Alturas Lake once before. But did not spend more than 24 hours there.
My newlywed wife and I would like to get away from it all, and Alturas Lake is the only place I can think of to do so. We have one shot to get it right, because I ship out to basic for the Army on August 23.
I don't know how to fish, but that's no biggie. Biggie is that I don't have a boat or waders, and I'm sure Alturas sets those as requirements.
We really shouldn't backpack, as my wife is 12 weeks pregnant.
So I've narrowed it down to beer and grille. Haha. Is there anything else? Somewhere we could go to watch deer early in the morning, or anything? Hotspots for anything?
