Dispersed Camping in NH with good night sky view?

Hey everyone. I'm Jeff and although I am new to the forum, I am not new to camping.

However, I am new to camping in the White Mountains region of NH, which is where I plan on going with some friends to enjoy the upcoming Perseid meteor shower.

Can anyone recommend a nice spot with a good view of the sky that's preferably not very populated? I know, it's probably a tall order but the quasi-working state of the standard gov websites listing campsites makes me turn elsewhere for information.

I saw some cool dispersed camping off haystack road while heading to the trail head for a backpacking trip 4th of July weekend. They were spread out nicely. They were all full that weekend. I did remember pondering where everyone was going to the bathroom. By the end of the season there has to be poop everywhere. Kind of a bio hazard to me.
