  • Franconia Notch NH

Well, I didn't get to camp this time, just a day hike. But, the Falling Waters Trail starts from Lafayette Place Campground in Franconia Notch State Park.

Great video hwc! Lafayette is one of the campgrounds I have been eyeballing for a future trip, it looks very nice. I'm trying to get my husband into hiking, and one of his "must haves" is a waterfall or other swimming option on the trail, Falling Waters looks like just the ticket! Beautiful area, thanks for the vid!

The fantastic family hike option from Lafayette Place campground is up to Lonesome Lake. It's a relatively easy (nothing is easy in NH) 1.6 climb up to an absolutely stunning Lake with an AMC hut for snacks and a swimming dock. Either a 3.2 mile up and back (my favorite winter snowshoe hike) or a 7 mile loop from Lafayette Place that I do as a summer hike.

Lonesome Lake trail goes up from the west side of the campground. Falling Waters and Old Bridal Path go up from the east side (walking under the highway). Very easy to get to. Right on I-93. Restaurants and groceries five miles south in Lincoln.

I don't think sane people swim on Falling Waters Trail. Those mountain streams are insanely cold.
