  • Primitive Camping in Missouri

    Hi, all:
I'm trying to find dispersed or primitive camping in Missouri. I'd love to find places near Kansas City & NW Missouri, although I think better camping may be in southern & southeastern MO. We'd love to backpack in & camp (with fire or backpacker's stove) or canoe & camp. Thanks for the info!

Hi - brand new to this board. By my "name" you can tell where I live and where I love to float and camp. I highly recommend coming down the the "Ozark National Scenic Riverways". The first such designated in the U.S. Clear, spring-fed ozark streams. The Riverways is in the eastern edge. I recommend an outfitter close to Eminence, MO. Van Buren is okay, but you can get a ton of weekend, partying floaters (in innertubes, not canoes) from the cities. The "Eleven Point" river is spectacular, as is the upper portion of the "Current"river, well above Van Buren.
