North Carolina Campers

Campout Carolina 2013 is an annual EarthShare Event to promote camping. It will be held STATEWIDE on the nights of October 11 and 12. This is the 7th year this event has been held.
You can go to their website and "Join" the campout. There is a photo contest you can enter and there are camping tips and even a patch you can earn! You can camp anywhere in the state--even in your own backyard.

Anyone in the Northeastern NC area who is interested, We'll be camping at Merchants Millpond State Park Family Campground. See you there!

UPDATE: Unfortunately we will not be camping away from home this weekend. It has been raining for 3 straight days and there is more rain in the forecast. Everything is waterlogged. If it's dry enough we might pitch our campsite in the yard, we will see. If there is a silver lining, the NPS has given us permission to open our PsychoPath Halloween event and we will be working it after all.

This is an example of an event I would avoid. Crowds are one of the only thing that wreck a camping trip. Some people have suggested that tent camping is a "sunset sport" and that it is outdated. I am glad to see people celebrate tent camping.
