  • Tarp or rainfly?

I recently picked up a Eureka Midori 2. I live in Fl, and camping during the summer months can be unbearable - hence the nearly all mesh wall. I like the tent - it's light and comfy, but when I've used the (Midori) rainfly it's stifling, with not nearly enough air flow. I also have a Hennessy Deep jungle hammock with the larger hex rainfly. Recently, on a short hike I left the Midori fly at home, and went with the Hennessy fly. It was large enough to cover the entire tent, while leaving the open ends my only concern. This setup was much cooler and allowed for MUCH more air flow...especially during the hotter hours of the day. I haven't used this setup in a serious rain and my question is - does anyone forgo the fitted tent fly for a tarp style fly, and have you had success in bad weather? Thanks...
