I just bought the Coleman tent kit that has the green plastic tops a couple of days ago. Wish I would have read this thread first because it sounds like they may not last very long.

I have found that I do use different stakes depending on the type of soil I am pitching my tent on. Last w/e I had to use 2 types of stakes as some of the soil was like cement while some of it was more like loose sand.
