  • Need oven mitt, potholder recs

It appears your typical oven mitts/pot holders/hot pads are no match for campfire cooking! Found this out the hard way, of course! LOL! What are you all using? I would also like some fire proof hot pads if there is such a thing. Also something that fits a woman's hand would be nice but if not I'm sure my husband will step up and do all the cooking

For campfire cooking, I would get a bar-b-q mitt:

You need a fireproof hot pad? Yikes? I've handled metal upwards of 2000 degrees with heavy duty gloves that were lined with abestos those might be what you are looking for!

I'm not sure how close you are putting your hands near the coals or how long you are holding a hot piece of cookware but these serve me fine, no joke. It's called the "OVE GLOVE". Even Consumer Reports said it's a winner.

The OVE GLOVE is what I use. I was really unbelieving until I used them. I was surprised how great they work and they aren't too bulky. I just bought another pair for the house.

The household ones we've used the last 2 trips either burned or melted when we were taking things off the campfire grill!

Insulated leather gloves, or welding gloves work fine. I like pot lifters or pliers for use with Dutch ovens.
