  • Is this a good deal on a Early Winters 4 season gortex tent?

I'm looking for a small tent to take backpacking or just use for car camping, if it is too heavy. This seems expensive for a tent bought 30 years ago but I don't know anything about it. Good idea? How heavy are they?

I agree with Hogsnapper. The greatest value in a tent from 1980 is nostolgia. Unless you are a collector. Nostolgia is not that valuable and it sure won't keep the rain off of you

The seller might have paid $150 for it in 1980, but unless it is Proctor and Gamble stock or gold, it sure isn't worth that today

There are many good NEW tents available today for around that same money or less. Do some shopping. That old design has been improved upon. Get a tent with a very breathable tent body shell with a waterproof rain fly

while i wouldnt pay $150 for a +30 year old tent,
but for whatever reason looks like thats the going rate for those tents
see one in good condition used selling for $495!!!
another with tears and beat up selling for $140

i would say if you have a special connection to this particular tent,
maybe like one your dad used, or you used as a kid. then go for it,
if you just want a reliable tent i would pass on this one, too old, too expensive,
