First I would like to introduce myself. My name is Paul and I live in Northern Oregon. I have spent my whole life out of doors. Working as a firefighter, Surfing, backpacking, camping, fishing, kayaking, and motorcycling. If it is done outdoors I am up for it.
My question is about the size of this tent and campground camping spots. This tent when erected with the fly on comes in at 20'x 13' footprint. I know this thing is huge. I would be using it to camp at beach campgrounds up and down the coast from Washington State to Mexico, and who knows where else. I have always just used my backpack tent when going on trips but would like to have more room just in case I have company or a place to put my board and wetsuit to dry out of sight. I also would use an Aero-bed to sleep on for comfort. I am 5'10" so I guess I would be called shorter than average. The flying diamond 8 has 6’ headroom and the flying diamond 6 has 5'6" of headroom. Nothing worse that standing in a tent and having your head cocked sideways so you fit. The footprint of the flying diamond 6 is 16'10" x8'. I would hate to get to a camp spot only to find out that my tent will not fit because it is too big. I like the Big Agnes flying diamond tents because the weather up north gets very nasty and wet so being a 3-4 season tent is a must. If anyone has any other suggestions I am very open, also if anyone has a flying Diamond 6 or 8 please give me your impressions.
Thanks for you input.
