Camping advice

I am from NYC and i really love camping.For some time i am trying to find primitive campground somewhere closer to NY. By primitive i mean i dont want to have tent neighbors in close range.Something where i can be alone,in middle of woods with no electricity.
Question is do you guys know any campsite like this? Somewhere in NY or PA

Not sure about NY, but in PA you just need a free camping permit - http://www.dcnr.state.pa.us/FORESTRY/camping/index.aspx to camp in the state forests. You can also get a recreation map for the Allegheny at the Forest Service's website - http://www.fs.fed.us/r9/forests/allegheny/recreation/

Hey Scrib,
Great sites! He'll use 'em! that's an excellent call. Going camping next week, to Joshua Tree National Park and then on down to Anza Borrego State Park, Kalifornia. We'll be camping all next week! Temps in the 70s & 40s it'll be great and date farms everywhere. Camping agin yipee!!!
