slide in camping question

Hello,

In the past we have had pop-ups and travel trailers. Now we predominately tent camp. I have seen a few slide in campers around here on trucks. My question is, how do you camp with a slide in? At the camp site, do you leave it on the truck or remove it?

We have a small boat we take along now and it would be disruptive to pack up the camper to take the boat down to the water. If you can camp in the slide in when it is off the truck this might be a viable option for us.

Not sure about the ones here in the US but in Australia they pretty much all have legs that drop down like outriggers on crane trucks etc. These allow you to jack them up off the top of your pick-up and then drive away while still living in the tent. May be out there, just need to search.
