newbie looking for a 1st tent, need help

I am looking for a tent with decent rain protection, that will sleep two adults and some gear.
I was looking at REI Camp Dome 2 tent ( http://www.rei.com/product/731378 ) and the only thins that concerns me about this one is that people are saying there is not enough room for anything else with 2 adults in the tent.

Does anyone know any comparable tents that a a bit bigger so it can fit some gear in it with 2 adults?

I prefer to get a two man with a larger rain fly. Then gear can be stored outside under the rain flay. Not in the tent. It keeps wet or dirty gear away from sleeping gear.

I use a two man like this: LINK The REI version of this tent is no longer available though and the North Face one is a little pricey.

after looking around some more I decided that I should out up some more cash and get a 3 person tent, I'm still looking for a (relatively) cheap tent,
