Where to camp?

hi all! im looking to go camping this year and not too sure where to go. im looking for a place where i can be off away from others, so not in a crowded campground, (but still legal). maybe near a stream and in the forest. also dogs would need to be permitted. if anyone has some ideas it would be greatly appreciated.
