  • Hope to Get a Popup

Hi! Nice forums, found you through a google search. I hope to buy a popup this month. Been a Tent camper well on 10 years now or more. I'm tired of sleeping on the ground.

Thought I'd say hi... you need an intro forum.

Thanks Cynthia pass on the good words about the forums. :D

I am a pop up owner, and love it. Picked up a 93 Coleman, one owner, with shower, for $2500.

What did you search to find us? if you remember.

      Hiya.

I'm pretty sure I searched for popup forums. Was a couple days ago now so I'm not positive I remember.

Sounds like a good price on your coleman. I'm still looking, I believe I've narrowed it down to a Jayco, Rockwood, or Fleetwood. All smaller models as I plan to get an Outback in 2005 and need something light enough the Outback can pull it. Currently I drive a 90 Toyota which I love, but it is getting a bit old.

The husband would prefer a new trailer, but we'll have to see. There is an RV show in a couple of weeks I plan on going to.

Careful at the RV shows. I have found that you can get a better price at the local dealership a few days after the show. The show costs them money to attend, usually about $10,000 TO $15,000. The RV dealerships usually ramp up inventory just before a big event. Then they promote a "special" sale at the show. This is usually retail price plus a few extra items like a shower or "free" hot water upgrade. The inventory is usually ordered with these "free" items. A few days after the show the RV dealership has a bunch of overstock, at least a few units. Then you can wheel and deal. I was on the verge of getting a new Coleman for about $3000 less than RV show price with all the "free" offers. That was until I found this used unit for MUCH less. :D

The Outbacks are great. My wife would be very happy with one of those. We are in the process of selling our F150 SuperCrew...after that who knows.

          Hi,
We live in central NY, in the finger lakes region. I was a back packer for 30 years before pop up camping. we own a 2002 coleman sedona, which tows very nicely behind our 2002 subaru outback sport, the smallest subaru made. it's spec'ed at 2,000 towing and that's a clean spec, so when subaru says you can tow a certain weight, they me you can AFTER you've fully loaded your vehicle. Most other manufacturers stretch things on tow capacity.

And i'd agree that though candy store like it may be, an RV show is probably the last place to buy a new or used pop up. we got our late spring of 2002 and save $1,000 buying from a dealer, just face to face and not during a show.
