  • Need a Place to Travel?

    Howdy,
The United States is a great county for travel. From the Grand Canyon to Alaska's Mount McKinley: Americans have it all. The purpose for this short bit of information is to provide some good tips for your up and coming vacation or trip. The best place now days to find out what is going on and where to travel is obviously on-line. Many great websites exist that provide not only locations for great sports, but travel arrangements and sporting equipment that may come in handy.

Two of the better web sites that you don't want to neglect are the National Park Service (NPS) site and Lizarddawg. NPS is full of details on each park in the National system and is a must before a visit. Lizarddawg, is a general site that provides many options for the traveler and vacationer. For those of you who are involved in the X-extreme sports world many sites are available that include information on current national events as well. Remember the best sites are family friendly sites and should not charge a fee to use.

Believe it or not you likely will not have to travel far to have a great vacation. Most states have national parks and or likely state parks. It is important to check ahead for availability. It is also important to research the area that you are considering travel. Making sure a park is not a run down and full of drunken Saturday trouble makers or vagrants is important to both your families' life and your vacation. Believe it or not this does happen in our parks. If you're single this is very important and should not be disregarded.

If you do end up spending the night at a state or national park make sure you visit the ranger's office and create a relationship. Have their number preprogrammed: this is just good sense. Always keep aware of you surroundings. Make sure you bring enough supplies, as many parks do not have stores. If at all possible take your vacation with some friends, as this helps deter theft or robbery especially if you are alone. Always be safe and aware and your vacation will be great.

If camping make sure you take consideration for the environment. Keep an eye on any fires you may have and have plenty of water or a shovel close. Always extinguish your fire at night and not just letting it burn out, as this is how forest fires are started. Handle your food waste properly as to not attract animals that can cause both their and your harm. Never leave trash as it just piles up. It is your park take care of it. Wishing you a safe and fun vacation. What are ya waitin fer, get campin!
