  • Squirrel Appreciation Day

Squirrel Appreciation Day activities at eHow -- here's a teaser for that:

    1. Check local television listings for documentaries about squirrels. The National Geographic Channel and Animal Planet are likely to have a special presentation.

    2. Look out your window. Squirrels are everywhere. What can you learn about squirrels just by watching them in your own backyard?

    3. Read a book about squirrels and their natural habitat.

    4. Research squirrels online. You'll find several sites dedicated just to our furry friends. Did you know, for instance, that there are 365 species of squirrels?

Thanks, I sent this on to my sister. She has rescued many baby squirrels, from destroyed nests or just fallen from a nest. By the time she got around to taking a local class in raising small animals, she had already figured everything out and could have taught the class!
Nice thing about raising baby squirrels - they ween very quickly! They soon start eating hard foods (nuts and seeds) then they are pretty much ready to 'hit the trees'!
Once during a hurricane, her barn rafters were literally filled with squirrels! Her 'babies' had brought their friends to where they knew there was good shelter! :D
Longtime Motorcycle Camper. Getting away from it all on two wheels!
