I've been wanting one of those big, aquatainer type water containers for my camping water needs. I want to be able to store drinking water in it so I can bring enough and have some water to do dishes ect with. I currently use one of those big, round 5-gallon water containers they use on construction sites and it takes up so much room in my car, I hate it. But I'd rather bring one big container than bottled water in 16 oz containers like my dad keeps trying to get me to do.
Today, I found the exact kind of container at a thrift store. When I opened it to sniff it, there was no weird smell. It just smelled like an old cooler that had been sitting closed for a while. It's a 6 gallon Rubbermaid container. I bought it because it was 8 bucks and I figured with some bleach it would be fine. Would you trust this to use?
Some people I told about it were telling me since I don't know the history of what was stored in the jug, I shouldn't use it. I'm stubborn and really want to be able to use this container, but now I'm having second thoughts. I was planning on using bleach, then washing it out with soap and water. Would you risk it?
