  • Hard vs soft top gazebo?

We are looking to do some work on our outdoor space this spring/summer. At the back of our yard, we used to have a vegetable garden, but a few years ago a massive house was built next door and the area no longer gets any sun. We seeded it over about two years ago, but it’s fairly straggly gr**** so we have decided to build a deck/seating area with outdoor couches there. We are looking to get a cover for the space as we are in the Pacific Northwest, so it gets wet, even when it’s still warm enough to be outside. We also have fruit trees overhead and would want to keep the fallen fruit off of the furniture/fire pit. Looking at the gazebos that fit our space, it looks like there are both hard and soft top options. We have a collapsible soft top one for camping, and it’s not the best in heavy rain, though I’d expect that the ones for yards are sturdier. We have no real need to take it down or move it, and the area is already shady due to that house, so it’s mostly to keep the rain and the apples and plums off of it. Given all of this, would a hard or soft top vs hardtop gazebo work better? Any recommendations on brands or things to steer clear of?

Consider a hardtop gazebo for your rainy Pacific Northwest outdoor space. It'll protect your furniture from fallen fruit and handle heavy rain better than soft tops. Look into brands like Sunjoy, Sojag, and Yardistry. Check dimensions and features like mosquito netting. Enjoy your cozy and protected deck this spring/summer!
