Re: Hanging a tarp for shade/rain
ScooterGirlInALA - The 16'x24' tarp we have now I just added when we got our big cabin tent. I had always poo-pooed the large tarps before as it was just me, myself and I in my little dome tent. Now that I drag Hubby and the kiddos with me, and we ALWAYS have at least 2 or 3 other people tag along with us, I absolutely ADORE our huge tarp! It's the first thing that goes up every single time we camp now. On our 2013 camping trips it POURED rain just about every time out and seemed to be the worst weather just as we arrived to setup. Of course. LOL! I just have the guys get the huge tarp rigged up first while the girls and I unload gear, work on the tents and beds, and get dinner started. By the time they are done with the tarp, we are pretty much all settled in and ready to eat... AND have a dry space to do it in! I also really appreciate the tarp in sunny weather, both myself and our youngest DD are fair skinned redheads that burn to a crisp in 30 seconds flat, so having that nice, big shaded area saves me and DD from many painful sunburns.
