    Re: Smoking inside a tent????!!!!

Nicotine is the most addictive drug in modern society. It is curios that we still spend tens of billions of dollars for a "war on drugs" that we will never win. Many countries have legalized drugs with an emphasis on education and treatment.

Legalization would free up the prison system, provide tax income, and eliminate a lot of crime especially on the US?Mex border. Not to mention that it would eliminate the marizuana grows on public lands largely run by Mexican cartels.

I think PPine is using some very good logic in concluding that taxpayer money is largely wasted on the "war on drugs", since the anti-drug industry is nearly as powerful as the drug-industry, and incentives to fund departments based on confiscated assets by law is a powerful inducement. Based on a study by London's Imperial college, this recent study lists in order of addictiveness their pecking order of the top ten "addictive" drugs:

Nicotine is high up there at #3. Keep in mind that because this study was conducted by scientists, their findings should be ignored since we all know that personal experience trumps scientific studies every time.
“People have such a love for the truth that when they happen to love something else, they want it to be the truth; and because they do not wish to be proven wrong, they refuse to be shown their mistake. And so, they end up hating the truth for the sake of the object which they have come to love instead of the truth.”

        Re: Smoking inside a tent????!!!!

As a smoker, I do realize it is disgusting to many, so I try to limit my smoking to times when I'm not around anyone, or in any situation (like an enclosed tent) would result in harm to anyone or anything but myself.

Someday I hope to quit. In the meantime, I appreciate those that understand how hard it is to do so.

I smoke but err NOT in the tent. Many moons back I saw a tent blow up as the occupants were smoking and filling a Coleman lamp.
          Darwinism at it's finest..

I occasionally allow my former ciggy smoking mother to beat me over the head about my smoking but not really anyone else.
And when she reaches MY limit of "discussion" I remind her that there's an excellent chance I learned to smoke from her.

I'm an adult. Basically considerate and I take my butts with me. And I can smell the smoke just fine. First thing I do when I enter the house is sniff the air.
Smells bad? Time to wash the walls. Which is great for maintaining upper arm tone.

Well, the war on tobacco has made progress. In the 1960s, about 60% of the adult population in the USA smoked and today it is about 17%. That is progress.

The argument that we should give up on the war on drugs is most often touted by drug users (not you, TPlife), but go to countries that went soft on drugs and you find total disaster. An example is Holland. The place seems like a heroin shooting gallery. I have never seen so many drug zombies in my life. The train station looks like a scene from a movie with people shooting up right on the curbs. Legalizing drugs in holland resulted in an explosion of drug users, certainly NOT a decline and many souls have been lost to the hopelessness of addiction

I am certain that if the USA stopped fighting our drug problem, there would be drug mayhem. Most crime today is drug related. Imagine how crime would skyrocket if there were even more addicts and users in society

It may prove to be an unwinnable fight but some fights just have to be fought.
