Hi- just joined this forum.
Anyone have thoughts about using a bivy INSIDE a tent? Does it add warmth?
I just got the 4-piece USGI MSS which comes with 2 sleeping bags and a goretex bivy cover. The 4th piece is the stuff sack. It is supposedly rated to -30F if used altogether. Will be hiking up Kili very soon, where they say the last night is very, very cold (negative digits), and don't know whether to bring the bivy (weight is not as big a factor as someone else will be carrying my kit).
The reason I am considering it is I suspect it may add warmth, but I am not sure. Anybody here with experience with the MSS?
Will appreciate your thoughts.
