  • Seychelle water filters

Hi, I was wondering if anyone has any experience with Seychelle water filters? I was reading they are popular with missionaries.

Personally no we haven't but lookin at the link you provided it looks like a good product. We use and swear by Platypus! It's more expensive than Seychelle but for us Platypus is the best! Still using it even for short day trips to the boonies. Even muddy water is made pure!

Like RDF, I can't say we have used those filters, or would want to. We use either something like Kytiden (sp), which can be used multiple times, or we also carry an ionization filter (which we use if we know the water is not dirty).

How does an ionization filter work? I also found this one that looks pretty good. It uses a hollow fiber membrane purifier and they claim that it never needs to be replaced, you simply backwash it to clean it out. http://www.sawyer.com/viral.htm

I goofed.......... It is called a Steripen http://www.steripen.com/traveler-mini

The "mini traveler" is the smaller of the two systems. Both use UV light to kill germs. It does not filter out dirt and other unsightly things, but it does kill germs. It is about the size of a cigar, making ideal as a compact filter. Once, when I wasn't thinking about the area I was in, somewhat brackish water, I ran the water through a clean cotton cloth into my bottle, then put the Steripen in it and that killed the germs.

I home I didn't cornfuze you with last night's message.

I don't know about the brand but I have bought a reverse osmosis water filter from this company https://watercare.co.id/ and I think the results are quite good and hopefully it really cleans the water from viruses, bacteria and microorganisms.
