  • Hot Pudding

Now, with the colder fall and winter weather coming, warm desserts are looking more and more inviting.

Here is a very simple and affordable treat:

Buy a box or two or three of the old fashioned "Cook" pudding. This is different from the instant puddings that you add milk and refrigerate. You can use water if you don't have milk or if you are a purist, you can bring some canned or powdered milk.

To jazz it up, add a can of mixed fruit or cookies or granola or graham crackers.

Serve hot. You will be popular.

Hot pudding is my #1 comfort food.
I never considered it for camping/backpacking. I wonder how it would turn out made with Nido?

People eat lots of things in the outdoors with relish that they might not care for at all at home. There is something about dessert after a week out there that is hard to beat. Try it. I bet you will like it.

Ya, well, guess what, folks. For an extra special adult dessert treat, add a shot (or two) of bourbon or brandy to your hot pudding and let that put some warm fuzzy on your evening.

+1. I love hot pudding, but never considered it for camping. I will try it; sounds like a great treat.

I just bought some coconut creme for a river trip next week. I will wait about 4 days to bring it out, and it will get some good reviews.
