  • Apple (or Cherry) pie turnovers

Here is another recipe using a pie oven. I personally thought it was to big to fit in a pie oven, so I may roll a single crescent up into a ball and then flatten it out in the pie pan. Or you could use the Flaky Biscuits. I used my recipe for fried apples for the filling. Turned out well.

    Ingredients

2 tubes of 8 refrigerated crescent rolls
1 can apple or cherry pie filling

    Instructions

    At the Campsite:

    1. Grease both sides of pie iron with non-stick cooking spray.
    2. Unroll crescent rolls and separate into squares, leaving every two crescent rolls together. There should be 8 squares. Place one square on one side of pie iron. Spoon 3-4 tbsp of pie filling onto square. Top with another crescent roll square.
    3. Close iron and hold over flames for 3 min on each side until crescent squares are golden brown. Remove iron from fire and open carefully with a hot pad or oven mitt. Repeat with remaining ingredients.

I love cherry very much. Would also like to have a try.
I've no house in the city, just a camping tent in the wild.
