Found a few new recipes that I thought I would share. I tried this at home and made it like you would a grilled cheese sandwich. My daughter ate it up. You could use refrigerated bisciuts instead of bread, and do a calzone type thing. Here is how to make pizza pockets using your pie oven.

    Ingredients

    1 tbsp butter
4 slices white bread white bread
    0.25 cup pizza sauce
    12 slices pepperoni
1 can 4 oz sliced mushrooms
    0.5 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

    Instructions

    At the Campsite:

    1. Generously grease both sides of the pie iron with non-stick cooking spray.
    2. Spread butter over one side of each slice of bread. Place one slice of bread, buttered side out, into one side of the pie iron. Layer half of the pizza sauce, pepperoni slices, mushrooms and shredded mozzarella cheese onto bread slice. Cover with another slice of bread, buttered side out.
    3. Close iron and hold over flames for 3 minutes on each side. Remove iron from fire and open carefully with a hot pad or oven mitt.
    4. Repeat with remaining ingredients.

I'm not a big fan of pepperoni but these do sound really good. Swap out the pepperoni for some olives and peppers and I'll take two. :D

Sounds yummy! I'm sitting on my deck trying out one of those "Flame Disks" in my grill. I wish I had the ingredients to make pizza pockets; I'd do it right now.

I think they are new. I found it in the grocery store. It's by BIC. It looks like (well is) an aluminum pie plate, with an aluminum cover. The inside is filled with solid fuel - some sort of ethanol. You set it on the lower rack of your grill. The cover has some holes in it; you set a match to one of the holes and that lights the fuel. The flames come out of the holes in the cover.

Here's some of the marketing on the packaging:
            • The charcoal alternative for your grill
            • convenient & portable outdoor grilling
            • uses ethanol as the main fuel ingredient. ethanol comes from corn, a renewable resource
            • burns cleaners thatn charcoal with 90% less carbon monoxide and VOCs per grilling event.

I did not cook by it; I just wanted to see how it worked. The flames lasted about 45 minutes. Though they were probably fine to cook with, there was no ambiance like a campfire, and little indirect heat. But I think if I want to cook something quick outdoors on a work night, this may fit the bill.

            I think it cost $1.
