Re: The Overland Gourmet - A new blog dedicated to gourmet camp cooking
What nice pics and tasty recipes. It helps with a long time "hole" of knowledge on the 'net for my thunk
.
I'll be checking out your blog soonest!
I must concur on your assessment of Uncle Ben's rice, whether basamati or regular. As a "Carolina extra long grain" grrl I canna eat the stuff. Or Minute Rice for that matter.
I've reached a point in my life where I pay a lot of attention to what enters my life's engine AKA body.
I shy away from processed foods and pretty much stick to supermarket perimeter shopping although I'll admit to dallying in the ethnic condiment sections
. It may take me longer to put a meal together ( or not as I do a lot of food prep at home) yet I'm confident that what I'm eating will cause me a minimum of health problems down the road.
Every year when camping, I pick an overall theme to cook with whether it be Mexican, Mediterranean or Asian. This keeps my condiment and seasonings to a space saving minimum as well as increasing my knowledge about a specific cuisine.
