  • Cooking Potatoes during Camping Tips

    Howdy,
    • Wash potatoes before you cook them.
    • Poke holes on the potatoes before you wrap it up (don't want soot in it).
    • Use heavy-duty foil. If not available, wrap foil around it twice.
    • Yukon gold or russet potatoes for balking, unpeeled red potatoes for stews.
    • When baking on a campfire, keep potatoes from the flames to prevent soot. Glowing, white coals produce the best results.:D

    Favorite Campfire Breakfast
Place 4 strips of bacon on a large piece of Aluminum foil and cover bacon with a large handful of frozen hash brown potatoes. Cut 3 rings of onion or bell peppers and place on top of potatoes. Crack an egg into each ring. Put Picante sauce or cheese on eggs, salt and pepper. wrap foil securely and place in coals. 8 minutes eat!

I love baked potatoes over a campfire! They come out just like the restaurant - the skin's a little crisply and inside just falls apart

Potato Wedges are a fun snack

Potato Wedges are a fun snack food or a amend side dish recipe that can be served up for dinner or lunch. This potato wedges recipe is made with red potatoes because they hold firmer than baking or Russet potatoes. Kids seem to really love potato wedges.Campinginoz.com has been created to help people find useful information about camping in Australia.

We always make a few extra baked potatoes at dinner. After they cool, I cut them up into cubes and throw in the cooler for the morning. They're really good heated up with some butter, rosemary, and chopped onion in the cast iron skillet, alongside bacon and eggs for breakfast.

RDF the breakfast casserole in foil sounds delicious. I am going to try this this weekend. It will be our first time out this season.

The many ways I have made potatoes when camping.
1: Baked, under the chicken over the fire. This is done on a 2 level grill (see profile pic for idea) chicken cooks on top level slowly, juices drip onto potatoes, instantly seasoned!
2: Baked in foil with butter, margarine, or my favorite bacon fat. Cut potatoes in half, season with desired blend (I use canadian steak seasoning) add favorite fat, press together and wrap in foil. Place on fire.
3: hobo pack potatoes. Potatoes with onions and seasoning and your favorite fat. Dice potatoes, season, add onions and fat. Wrap up and cook.
4: hash browns or home fries. Do I need to give instructions for these. Not for you you guys on here.
              Enjoy!!!!!
