“I would feel more optimistic about a bright future for man if he spent less time proving that he can outwit Nature and more time tasting her sweetness and respecting her seniority.”
It's actually just "soap" for the gluten-free crowd - but please don't spread the truth around (we're medical researchers in need of salaries, after all).
“People have such a love for the truth that when they happen to love something else, they want it to be the truth; and because they do not wish to be proven wrong, they refuse to be shown their mistake. And so, they end up hating the truth for the sake of the object which they have come to love instead of the truth.”
―Augustine of Hippo, Fifth Century A.D.
An old school hand sanitizer, it has probably been surpassed in performance by more modern chemistry; probably time to update & colsolidate the kit...suggestions??
soap (requires water) is in a separate bar
...haven't needed Viagra ..Yet... (crosses fingers)...
2006 Jeep Rubicon, TJ; 4.11 gears, 31" tires, 4:1 transfer case, lockers in both axles
For DD & "civilized" camping; 2003 Ford explorer sport, 4wd; ARB & torsen diffs, 4.10 gears, 32" MTs.
Ground tents work best for me, so far.
Experience along with properly set up 4WD will get you to & through places (on existing, approved 4WD trails) that 4WD, alone, can't get to.

The man visits various conventions and is constantly coming home w/ hand sanitizers. Amazing the forms they take now: small plastic containers attached to keychains; pen fillings, rectangular shaped thin containers, all with the logo of some company or the other.
I assume that they are all created equal and just pack the container that fits bestest in my toiletry bag.
2017:
July 3 to July 16- annual kiddo trip
Aug 2 to Aug 14- adult trip to recover from kiddos' outing. Bring on the Campari!

Well, when you start packing the twin bathtubs for the next camping trip, might want to start looking for the viagra.
“One could not be a successful scientist without realizing that, in contrast to the popular conception supported by newspapers and mothers of scientists, a goodly number of scientists are not only narrow-minded and dull, but also just stupid.” - James D. Watson
So far I have resisted the bath tubs (although there are some nice rubberized ones based on a cot frame)... I did briefly consider a galvanized washtub ala Beverly Hillbillies but decided that the look (it would fit over my spare Jeep tire) wasn't for me.

I am reviving this thread because the subject came up on a FB group (consisting mainly of RV'ers). I was accused of being a pansy because I considered 5 oz. to be too heavy to BP with. My first aid kit consists of a few ibuprofen, some steri-strips, a bit of antibiotic ointment, tincture of benzoin, and Leukotape-P (the last two are for foot care, which I consider paramount for hiking). The guys calling me a pansy were military types who hauled 60+ lb rucksacks. If that's what you enjoy, who am I to tell you different? I bet I can cover more miles than you though...even if I am old and give out.
2018: Any way the wind blows; doesn't really matter to me....Too Meee....
Haven't backpacked for years, but it didn't take me long, back in the day, to realize that weight = BAD and every ounce counts (against you)...
...as far as light weight first aid, my every day carry first aid consists of;
3 or 4 (down from half a dozen) large fabric band aids in my wallet (started doing this while working as a metal fabricator and it continues to be occasionally handy)
The band aids can be cut down for use as butterflies (with the Swiss army knife SAK that is also EDC).
a clean handkerchief...
a BIC lighter
Some aspirin in a small pill bottle.
Triple antibiotic ointment never worked for me; I keep a small squeeze bottle of Providone-iodine in the vehicle kit...(found it tough to carry because it will stain if it leaks and altitude changes increase the chances of leaks).
Enjoy!
