    Lazy Man's Grubbing Pesto and Orzo Pasta

    serves 2-3

    1 lb. Orza Pasta -this unknown pasta is great beacasue it's compact like rice & good!
    1 package of pesto sauce mix - available at local grocery store
    Oil/butter/margarine as indicated on the package.
    1 handful of pine nuts
    Garlic powder, salt, pepper, dried basil as desired
    Cheese if desired
    1 handful of sun dried tomato pieces (if available)
    Simply cook the pasta, and throw everything in! It's better than you would expect.

    Your recipe sounds good. Here is a Pesto recipe we use on the trail:

    Prior to leaving home, add the following to a zip lok bag:
    Dried home grown basil
    Dried home grown parsley
    Pine nuts
    Lots of powdered home grown garlic


    In the morning (on the trail):
    Combine the contents a zip lok bag w/ fresh grated parmesan cheese and olive oil.

    Serve a couple of ways:
    1. Spread on crackers at lunch
    2. Add angel hair pasta to boiling water, 2 minute later, drain off water, stir in pesto. Delicious.

    Oh, my! I sure like the idea of the sun dried tomatoes. I think I am going to try that!
