  • Breakfast: Food Ideas

    Howdy,

Here is an example of what we might carry when we go backpacking, which is usually done from our base camp where ever we decide to camp. When we go out we like to tell people that we actually do this on the spur-of-the-moment-kind-of-thing, but in all truthfulness, we do all the planning well ahead of going to a camping spot and if we feel like backpacking we are already prepared and go from there or if we feel like not going backpacking, just kayaking...well then will do that instead. But we are prepared.
    Breakfast
    • Instant oatmeal with brown sugar
    • Bagels, with cream cheese or jelly
    • Dried fruit
    • Fresh fruits (pick durable fruits like apples or oranges)
    • Breakfast bars
    • Hot drinks: coffee, tea, hot chocolate
Just thought I'd share and in a little while I'll do this again for the other two main meals we have daily: lunch & dinner.

My breakfast in the field is coffee (with creamer and sugar), and either flavored oatmeal or grits. A snack bar can be good too.
I have lately gotten several packets of Mountain House Scrambled Eggs with ham and peppers - good stuff, as freeze-dried goes!
