Not much going on here at Eaglebait Ranch this month. Susan has Jury Duty this month, which ties us down to local fun - not complainin' at all! February we are looking at spending 4-5 days backpacking in Kings Canyon, but until then, we are just going to plow snow here and get in some day trips for snow shoeing and telemark skiing.Chuck

Here in East Texas its usually too wet to do any backpack camping in January. We have cold fronts pushing through every few days that bring with them a few inches of rain. Everything is wet, muddy, and the creeks are swollen.Comment

Kids and I have a tradition of camping out on new years night. I am not a person who likes to watch the new years shows, so we go to Sam Rayburn and camp on a high bluff bank and watch the people shoot fireworks. It is car camping, but we all enjoy it.
