My brother and I have been going to a barrier island for about 35 years and camping out in a tent for at least 2 weeks at a time. We do this every July and the thunder storms can be fierce. My question is--can i get some suggestions for large cabin tents (10x14-10x16). We have to buy a new one every 2-3 years. We aren't buying cheap tents either, most come in at around $500.00. We really like the large cabin tent as we have a lot of gear and need the space. The wind is the biggest problem as we can only wait out the lightning. We have been staying away from the canvas because of the heat but we just got back and are seriously considering it this time. Any thoughts would be appreciated.
