  • Ham Stew

Found this on a different forum and decided it would make a good I'm too lazy to cook tonight meal. Can't think why it wouldn't work on a campsite:

    Ham Stew

    Ingredients Nutrition

    Servings 8 Units US

    Directions

    1. In large soup kettle, combine all ingredients.
    2. Bring to a boil.
    3. Reduce heat, cover and simmer for 1-1/4 hours.
    4. Discard bay leaves and serve hot (Add cooked pasta, if you wish)

    COOK'S NOTES:

I'll be using a cooked ham bone, and some leftover sauerkraut instead of shredded cabbage. Also whatevah cooked beans I've on hand. I'm cooking it w/o the sugar an will decide if I want to add it after the cooking. The heat will melt the sugar cyrstals if need be.
    2017:

July 3 to July 16- annual kiddo trip
Aug 2 to Aug 14- adult trip to recover from kiddos' outing. Bring on the Campari!

Stouffer's Lasagna is a too-lazy-to-cook-tonight meal. This stew does not fall into that category in my world.

Just as a heads up I wound up using a packet of sugar to round out the souriness of the sauerkraut.
