Not to boast but I have been to about half of these locations in these states. Personally my favorite of all that were listed in the article below was in Main, we did a day hike up Mount Katahdin on the Hunt Trail. I think this was about 10 miles round trip and it took up personally 12 hours round trip to get to the top and back. Others probably went faster, but for us, we wanted to stop and enjoy the view. (maybe for too long ;p)
Now this was no Half Dome hike, just because the elevation at half dome is steeper and the trail is longer, but still this hike I would say was strenuous!
