  • Texas tent camping for new years!

So, me and a few friends (party of 4 I believe) were going to camp for new years. We were thinking Palo Duro canyon (and it looks beautiful) But I wasn't sure if I wanted to drive all the way to the upper panhandle (8.25 hrs). We live in Huntsville which is 1 hr north of Houston. Does anyone have any other suggestions? I think Galveston will be out of the question, as one of us has camped there several times. We are meeting to discuss the details tomorrow night, so feel free to throw out suggestions. And thanks in advance.

At the time we are looking to camp in Huntsville its mid 40's. In the Pan handle it is mid 30's I believe. The 4 of us that are looking to go have cold weather bags that will take anything Texas can throw at us.
