how to find difference for tent fabric and coating--from tent manufacturer
Hi guys,
For the tent fabric,most of them are made from Polyester fabric including Nylon,
For the polyester,there are many different items,
Based on it's thickness and density,there are 170T,180T,185T,190T,210T etc.
And 170T and 190T are widely used for tents,
In my idea,170T is usually used for some cheap tent(dome tent,beach tent) and the inner of some family tent.
190T is strong and used for some good tent,even some client ask for 210T ripstop Nylon fabric,it based on the prices.
For the coating,mainly there are PU and PA coatings,
PU coating is a real waterproof coating,it can have very good ability for water resistant,It has different waterproof level: 800mm,1000mm,1500mm,2000mm...(it can be tested)Most family tent has a high PU coating,especially for it's outer tent(tent fly),
PA coating hasn't a good waterproof feature,it is used on 170T polyester(some thin fabrics),It is just water resist not water proof. Of course,PA coating cost is lower than PU coatings.
In fact,you can test it by yourself,when you get the tent,you can pour some water to the fabric,and check if water can get through the fabric,it is the directly vision to fnd the difference for the coatings.
