We want a tent fan and and a really good light. I saw the Coleman 212 light that has a power pack at the bottom, and the lights split in two, cost was52.73 and the four split type was 58. Has anyone bought these. The coleman fan looks like it is not very goof by reviews.
Any ideas would help,...
Last week someone was nice enough to leave one of those shortened grocery carts on my property. I went to return it to the store it came from, and was told old carts are discarded and are mostly grabbed out of dumpsters by the homeless. In short they didn't want it back. So now I have a grocery...
I want to make a simple aluminum tube type windscreen / pot stand... looking for something that is the right size ring to JB weld or rivet part way up the tube so my Trangia burner can be up from the ground (where it is cold sometimes, and apt to catch fire others). I have been wandering the isles...
What do you use your surplus military ammo cans for?? Any good ideas besides storing ammo. I think I will incorporate one for a first aid kit. I stumbled across a guy who had a made a tent (actually a tipi) heater out of one. A search on youtube showed a guy who had made a grill out of one. ...
If you had a water proof tarp the size of a towel, what could you do with it? how many uses can you think of?
Let me know your thoughts.
Someone dumped a grocery cart off on my property. I decided to bring it inside my garage and clean it up, spray a coat of black paint on it and... That's where I'm stuck. My prepper mindset remembers seeing the father and son characters from the movie adaptation of The Road trudging along with all...
please delete this thread....sorry I double posted.

Has anyone here built one? I am just starting to get back into camping and this seems like a great idea. Power for lights, pumps, fans, etc. without any of the smell and noise from a gas powered generator.
Hi Everyone........it's been a long time, too long in fact.
No camping for us this year due to $$ restrictions, but we'll make do.
Hello to RDF.......haven't spoken in ages!
Anyways.......I need an idea, not related to camping, but I thought this would be the best place to go, due to all the...
I am in the market for a down sleeping bag for temps 0 degrees F or lower.
A really good down sleeping bag can cost nearly $500. Yes, you will quickly forget about the cost when you are faced with brutal cold, but I might go hard-core winter camping four times per year at the most.
So, I couldn't justify spending so much hard earned cash on one so I made one here at the shop during some down time. Turned out great and works like a top.
Here's a coupla pics:
The Fire Piston
Yea! Made a sleeping bag hanger. Easy Peasy
First measured the width of the inside (probably unnecessary) and measured the leangth to the zipper beginning. All in all it took 5.25 ft of copper 1/2 in tubing, 4 90degree elbows, 2 1/2in copper caps, and a regular thread hook.
New Marmot Never Summer! I wana keep this thing right for a while.
So I made my self a hanger out of 1/2 inch copper tubing. About 5.25 ft of it, and 4 90 degree elbow's, and 2 end caps. Then tapped a hook in the center of gravity after a test feel. Then painted it all green! When I have a few...
Well I have to say that petroluim jelly coated cotton balls worked well. But now it is time to say good bye to them......unless I need them in a pinch. While doing some "research" (ie. killing time on the internet and youtube), I have ran across a longer burning solution. Gel wax coated cotton...
Hello all! I am a tent camper and am looking for ideas on using/customizing a utility trailer to camp easier. Has anybody done this and what would you like to add or wish you wouldn't have that just takes space up on the trailer
It used to be the wife and I throwing a little gear...
My 67 year old body cannot keep up with my 30 year old mind! It tells me so every time I try to pound tent stakes in during a rainstorm.
I am a retired poor man and cannot afford an expensive rig, besides, they do not make what I want for a Ford Ranger 6 cyl...so I made one.
I still need the 12v...
Ok so will be going from tent to homemade camper trailer as this trailer was free. Now the work has already started to convert this to our new camper. Any ideas or tips along the way will be helpfull.
Ok, so I have found that on week long camps we seem to always run out of fuel for our Coleman stove and lanterns ,so being creative and not wanting to pay 60 dollars for an adapter and tree set up, I came up with an idea to stop carrying 10 small bottles of propane.
What I've done was took an...
