This forum is used for everything to do with tent camping. This can be out of a car, off a motorcycle, or even backpacking.
We set the tent up tonight and it went very smoothly as advertised. We had it up in less than 1 minute with two adults and a three year old...LOL...coming down was not as easy. It took about 5 minutes which still is not bad. Hopefully Coleman can clarify that part of the directions a little better....
Howdy, In my never ending quest to find tent only campgrounds and those small enough to accept the smallest A-frame trailer or pop-ups. I'm still looking. One website that comes to mind is http://www.camparizona.com When you get to the site, find the search panel and type in manzanita...
WHAT TO LOOK FOR Most tents now come with bathtub floors, which keep seams several inches above the ground, and "no-see-um" mesh to keep out the tiniest insects. Double-track door zippers let you unzip the fabric door while leaving a screen in place for insect protection. Color-coding makes...
There are basically two types of camping opportunities available in your national forests: camping in a developed campground and dispersed (a.k.a. boondocking) camping. Dispersed camping opportunities are found outside developed campgrounds, in the forest and in the wilderness areas. A primary...
The short of it: Awful The long of it: As a kid, I tent camped for over a decade w/ the Scouts in all kinds of weather and terrain. I've been in torrential downpours in the summer and woken up to 2 feet of snow. I've camped predominantly in Eureka Timberline series tents most of my life. I...
I am considering adding to my camp gear this year and getting a sreen house that I can place over the picnic table, to protect from both bugs and a not-too-hard rain. I camp alone so I would need something that I can set up by myself. Any thoughts and/or recommendations?
People of the Forum, lend me your thoughts... I am asking for suggestions/opinions on which tent to purchase. Here is my scenario and criteria. My scenario: pack a bag (clothes...), duffel (camping and fishing gear...) and an ice chest (kitchen...) for airline travel. Looking to carry all of my...
I know the total weight of the tent is 79 pounds. What I want to know is how much the tent weighs, without poles and stakes. I am 69 so I would like to know just how much weight I will have to move. I haven't been able to find the weight for just the tent, or poles, listed. I have a Kodiak 6011VX...
I'm looking for a small tent to take backpacking or just use for car camping, if it is too heavy. This seems expensive for a tent bought 30 years ago but I don't know anything about it. Good idea? How heavy are they? http://greenville.craigslist.org/spo/3813250662.html
Just wondering if anyone has recommendations for a specific brand of battery to be used in battery operated air pumps. Until last year my husband and I thought all batteries were the same until we were camping one weekend, our batteries died, we picked up some from the local store and within 15...
I have been gearing up to start the family car camping traditions... which will start this coming summer. I'm looking at having everything that I need without going too overboard, but I will probably be somewhat overboard by some people's definition... Anyway, I have decided to get a kitchen...
First I would like to introduce myself. My name is Paul and I live in Northern Oregon. I have spent my whole life out of doors. Working as a firefighter, Surfing, backpacking, camping, fishing, kayaking, and motorcycling. If it is done outdoors I am up for it. My question is about the size of...
I'm trying to figure out whether or not to get a bivy sack or a solo tent. Not sure why I would get a solo tent, any one have any preferences?
Hello, I am new to this forum and camping in general. I have camped in the past but few and far between. I have been reading this forum almost non-stop and believe I'm probably suffering from information overload at this point. So I wanted to stop and ask a few questions or get some advice. ...
Missing the Sea sailing on the Cutters, to Driving 18 wheelers across country I now sit with the walls closing in on me. So Off to the woods and campgrounds I shall go. Went out and bought some basic camping gear, Tent bedding and cooking tools, now just to load up and leave out tomorrow to...
I've always loved to camp, but have not found like minded friends....probably due to my choice of friends, or unwillingness to join a 'group' to find such friends. Anyway, I'm contemplating camping on my own, and am looking to hear from others who have done it. Do you feel weird, camping on...
Ok this maybe a crazy idea or even a stupid one but only will work if your driving a Pickup to go camping due to space. Would not work packing it in a truck of a car or back of a SUV. Lay the tent out on a sheet of plywood and nail the corners to the plywood. Set 2x4s under neath to support...
Hello, I am a new member to the forum and have for the past few days been looking for a forum where I can get some good information on good water proof / resistant tent for camping here in Texas and Oklahoma area. My family and I live in Wichita Falls Tx., and it gets very very hot during...
Hi Guys/Gals, Where can i get wood for camp fire cheaply? If i buy at the gas station, it is really expensive. I am hosting big camping event and i need tips to save money. Please help.
Howdy Campateers, The sun sets three-and-a-half times faster than normal when you're trying to set up camp. Tents never come apart as easily when you're leaving a site as when you're trying to get them set up in the first place. Do you know of a Murphy Law that pertains to tent camping...
Hi all, I just got a Kodiak Canvas tent and of course I plan to store it dry, but I'm thinking about throwing some silica gel packs, or something in with it, to help keep it dry in storage. How do you all store your canvas tents to protect them from moisture? Thanks!
am a semi-retired guy who intends on camping a lot....with my 80lb. Doberman. MUCH of the time, it will be on the beach in North Carolina. (Jeep camping with lots of sun, sand and WIND) I alternatively will be motorcycle camping/touring with Honda Goldwing and a custom made trailer big...
I'm sure there are other threads, but I didn't get very good search results. Ok simple question is are these worth the money and what if any advantages do you have with a steel belted cooler versus one that is half the price and made from a different material (not plastic) but whatever they...
