  • Lifting a pop up

I am considering lifting my pop up camper. The reason for lifting the camper is not to take off road, the back end rubs on the drive way when I pull into my driveway.

The camper is set-up with a torsion suspension and from the looks of things it appears to be a relatively simple looking modification. My plan is to install 2”x2” heavy grade of steel between the brackets holding axle and the frame and weld. Are there any ill side effects of lifting a pop up camper approximately 2”?

    My camper is a 2000 starcraft 10’
My tow rig is a 1997 Jeep Cherokee (XJ)

    Thanks for your input.

    Consider this too

I thought about doing this to my 93 Coleman, however It looked like I was going to have to replace the support jacks on each corner. Let me know how it turns out and if you have to replace any support jacks.

Yeah, the only thing I could think of is not having your stabilizer jacks be able to reach to the ground. Also, you might have to change the drop on your drawbar if it'll tilt your pop-up too much in relation to your Jeep.

Oh, and you'll of course have a bigger drop from your step to the ground.

You'll be a smidge higher, so you might have a fraction more wind drag.

Now that's (really) all I could think of...
